This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work with a targeted group of “at promise” minority students to provide support, guidance, resources, and tutorials to ensure they pass all of their classes to be eligible to attend a university. Most of my students are creative scholars that aspire to go into the field of art or engineering. They belong to pathways, or academies, with classes that focus on the arts, architecture, manufacturing, construction, and engineering.
As educators, it is important to keep up with the latest trends, advancements, resources and strategies to make student learning relevant, meaningful, and engaging.
Some research shows that incorporating virtual reality technology into lessons improves student motivation, engagement, and retention by providing students the opportunity to interact with their learning environment and construct their own learning.
The items I am asking for are helpful in STEM courses and lessons where students can learn visually and spatially complex topics. Some math courses and topics require students to visualize translations and shapes in 3 dimensions. Hopefully having this tool can make learning easier and more appealing to students that are visual learners.
I truly believe students learn best when: 1) learning activities are fun, engaging, and hands-on and 2) they are rewarded and feel motivated. My goal is to provide a positive learning experience for my students.
