Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school serves students in grades K-8 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers, and a safe learning environment. We are located in a rural area of Phoenix, Arizona where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Our school goal is to prepare our students for success in high school and college. Classroom sizes range in the high 20's and low 30's. As we have made the transition back to in-person, our district has purchased Promethean Boards to help better serve our in-person and online students as needed.
My Project
The use of a projector is almost a daily activity in my classroom, in all areas of learning, especially with social distancing. Using a document camera in the class will allow me to model in real-time, pausing when needed. The camera also allows for students to quickly show their work with the class. This will also allow me to model lessons when dealing with students online due to COVID concerns without missing a beat or extra preparation to make digital.
The document camera also provides social distancing while providing clear instructions and modeling for each lesson.
I've also found using during reading aloud students are able to view the pictures longer to become more immersed in the story.
