Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The faces of the New York City classroom consist of students from Bangladesh, Yemen, Iran, Dominican Republic, Mexico and many other places. This is what my two classes of sixth graders looks like.
So many young people, along with their families, have come to America for a quality education and to become a part of the American dream.
English continues to be a second language to all of my students; however, their eagerness to learn and create projects is contagious. The photo is student created and won a prize for respect for all week. The students expressed themselves by identifying what respect means to them.
I've grown as an educator because of these students. It's wonderful watching them progress in a country that offers them something more than their native home countries.
My Project
Computer paper, looseleaf and highlighters are always in demand. Many of my students do not have the loose leaf to write their homework, or a printer to type out their reports. As their teacher, I want to reassure my students that they can send their reports to my email account. Keeping up with the demands of my students requires constant giving of computer paper and many other supplies.
Having the needed supplies on hand gives my students the freeness they need to be creative and not worry about not having what they need.
