Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

We all know the importance of providing equality for all students we service in our profession. When it comes to reading, that looks different from a lot of other subjects. Teachers have to frontload so much information as well ensure students understand. This can be discouraging and cause students not to want to read.

I was afforded the opportunity to provide my students with headphones so that they were able to read some of their favorite books.

They were able to go to different district provide websites, such as Sora, to read and hear their chosen books read to them. I noticed that when students can read books they can relate to on their reading level, it builds stamina and the desire to read. Unfortunately after a school year and some of usage, they have worn down, so I need your help. My classroom needs a set of headphones that will continue to bring the reading of my students to life!! This also provides equality of reading for all- not allowing one student to be singled out because everyone in the class has a pair.
