Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"That sounded great!!" These are the words that every student in my classes strive to hear. But how can they know how to obtain this phrase if they actually don't hear what I hear? That's is where YOU come in!

I teach over 250 highly motivated band students at a Title one school in Florida.

This large program is actually a huge accomplishment and I am very proud of the size of my program but sometimes it can be overwhelming and that is why your help is greatly needed. Help me better give my students the attention they deserve and help my students be better at assessing themselves as musicians!

My Project

There are a few ways we can benefit from having quality sound recording equipment, such as a laptop, microphones, and software, in our classroom. The most essential reason is to provide students with INSTANT feedback on their musicianship and performing. In other classes like math and writing students are often shown how to fix their mistakes. A problem can be easily shown or a mistake in writing can be circled and corrected. However, this is not the case in a class where most feedback can only be given aurally. My students need to hear and assess. If I tell students they are not playing a piece soft enough they can actually hear that. Students can then critique their performance and make it better. Hearing is truly believing in any music class and the more the students hear the better we will become in the end!

A project like this can only benefit our program.

Technology is continuing to become an essential part of education and this is only one small step for my students to become engaged in it. Help my students do more than play notes and rhythms. Help them become innovative, imaginative, and independent musicians who can accomplish more than they imagined.
