The board games have allowed the students to look at reading through a new lens. \r\nIn a class where their majority of kids are three or more grade levels behind seeing them light up and engaged with an activity that requires them to use their vocabulary and decoding skills is is no pun intended game changing. My students now are asking me, when can they pull out the Domino's or the bingo or the other games in which they have to use inferencing skills their context clues in vocabulary in order to improve. They're eager to learn they're doing their activities so that they can get these games on Friday so it's a win-win for me.
