This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a self-contained kindergarten teacher in a Title I school. My students are very visual and tactile learners and they need more exposure to these types of learning activities. My school has very limited resources to meet the needs of these students.
My students learn best when they are fully engaged in an activity. They are very visual and tactile learners thus when engaged in hands on activities they are more willing to partake in the learning. My students are easily distracted and lose focus quickly thus I need resources that will grab and hold their attention.
The literacy centers will help to hold their focus thus help them to become more independent learners. When they are engaged in an activity there are endless opportunities for them. They are more willing to take risks when they are enjoying themselves in the classroom.
The magnetic center in which students work on beginning and ending sounds as well as rhyming words will truly capture their attention. It is these experiences that I seek for my students.
These phonemic awareness centers will add a new dimension to our classroom. The students will be thrilled to work in the different centers which will allow them to experience success. I want to continue to help my students achieve their goals and become more independent and confident while doing so.
