I teach in a part of Southwest Missouri known for its strength in rebuilding after an F5 tornado. My students demonstrate this strength and dignity each day, even as their economic reality makes it difficult to explore the world outside their community.
In my classroom, I seek to bring the world to my students through diverse texts, writing assignments that challenge their worldviews, and a classroom community that is supportive and compassionate.
I love my school community and seek to bring them the best materials and experiences each and every day.
My students have just finished reading, "Unwind" by Neal Shusterman. This dystopian YA novel has captured their attention and emotions. I've had countless students ask me if I have the next book in the series, if they can borrow it, and even, "Maybe you can ask for them on that site where you got those other books." (That would be Donor's Choose, of course).
I am writing this request on behalf of my students, some of whom are reluctant readers, who are begging to read the next books in this series.
I know they will be excited and honored to have these books donated to our classroom library.
