This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Due to limited funding in my school district, yet an increasing need for technology in the classroom and in the hands of all students, supplemental classes such as music are normally placed last on the list to receive new items which enhance the learning process.
My students are amazing.
Despite the fact that over 77 percent of them come from economically disadvantaged families and are on free or reduced cost lunches, little stands in their way when it comes to wanting to learn. Many of my students have limited English proficiency that can make it difficult for me to explain concepts to them. There are limited posters and other visuals that can be used in the music classroom to get objectives across to them. However, there is an almost unlimited amount of visual resources available via the Internet and our district's library resource center that are legally available for me to use in my classroom IF I had a means to use it.
My Project
A Pocket Pico Projector will be the perfect addition to my computer and will allow me to provide my students with interactive, up-to-date and fun information in the form of images, PowerPoint presentations and video resources. My music classroom can literally come to life through this simple piece of technology that I can take with me wherever I go. With the touch of a computer button, I will be able to allow my students to see visual images and to see and hear musical instruments and musical performances in my classroom.
Your donation to this project will allow me to move my students to the next level of their music education and appreciation.
Things that I am currently only able to tell my students about, or things that I can only show them simple images of, can now come to life through this new visual format. I thank you in advance for your consideration and support of this much needed project!
