I currently teach 110 middle school students. Students on a daily basis are asking for materials. "Do you have a pencil I can borrow?", is a phrase I hear throughout the day.
"I don't have anything to write with!", is another phrase I hear numerous times a day. If I was keeping track, I can guarantee that I have handed out over 75 personal pencils and red pens this school year alone. With the economy the way it is, a simple thing like a pencil is harder to come by for many students. My students love to complete projects and supplying them with the proper equipment is essential for learning.
What better way to guarantee success? Pencils, markers, colored pencils and various other tools that will help further their education. A student should come to school prepared, if their parent or guardian is not able to provide them with the essentials, I feel it is my job to do so. A simple thing like a pencil would be beneficial.
By providing my classroom with markers, pencils and other writing tools, you will decrease some of the stress students might be feeling with the economy and at the same time help out the classroom. Thank you so much for considering this simple, yet effective project.
Your help will empower my students to focus on learning and not on not being equipped with the right supplies.
