Do We Need Soil to Grow Plants?

Help me give my students growing plugs and nutrient solution to learn alternative ways of growing plants.

My Project

Hydroponics is an alternative way of growing plants. Many students believe the only way to grow plants is in the ground. We will compare results of growing plants hydroponically and growing plants traditionally in the ground.

We will be placing seeds in the growing plugs to create sprouts.

Then we will be mixing nutrient solution into a tub and place the growing plugs with sprouts on a floating platform that will fit on the tub. The roots will grow towards the nutrient solution.

Throughout the process the students will observe the plants growing hydroponically and traditionally. They will also collect data on growth of plants.
