Dōmo Arigatō Mr. Roboto for Coding and Programming Opportunities
Help me give my students skills for the 21st century with the Sphero STEM Educational Robot that gives students experience beyond coding and programing by incorporating robotics and technology allowing students to critically think and collaborate with creativity.
Loma Vista Elementary has an unique group of students who are growing and challenging themselves to grow on a daily basis. When visitors come to our school, they always comment on how friendly and caring our students are. We are known as the Loma Vista Super Stars because our students truly are Super Stars.
Our students are facing monumental obstacles: 91% are socioeconomically disadvantaged, 40% are classified as homeless, and 67% are classified as English Language Learners - and yet in the 2017-2018 school year, our 6th grade students achieved the highest Language Arts achievement scores in our district.
Our students need to be future ready and able to overcome any obstacles that come their way!
Salinas students need to be future ready learners, ready for the opportunities and challenges facing our 21st century students. My students (80 6th graders attend my STEM and NGSS aligned science classes) have very limited opportunities to experience coding and programming with our current technology and materials at our school.
With your help, EIGHTY 6th grade students will have real world experience with computer programming and coding using STEM robotics, like the Sphero STEM Educational Robot and the Learning Resources Code & Go Robot Mouse.
These STEM tools will make computer coding and programming come alive, creating opportunities for students to think critically and solve problems while building skills for future careers in STEM.
