Welcome to the coolest class in Brooklyn, NY. My self-contained bridge class (2nd, 3rd, 4th graders) is filled with 12 amazing students who love learning through hands-on experiences and inquiry based model.
My school is located in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
This community is thriving and growing. The student population is a mixture of recent immigrants, long standing locals, and newcomers to Brooklyn. Parents are heavily involved in creating a community environment where all children are respected and honored for the differences to bring to the school community.
My Project
We are finishing up or first IB unit "Sharing the Planet". We have been studying the tropical rain forest in Belize. Students are finalizing their persuasive essay urging the government to end deforestation. They seek to protect the habitats of animals such as jaguars, margays, harpy eagles, and toucans.
In a special education classroom, giving students hands-on experiences helps locks in learning concepts.
With the moss, charcoal, pebbles, and books, we are creating a rain forest habitat in a bottle to help students remember the different organisms that exist within a habitat.
