This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Credit recovery is one of many incentives/educational strategies used by my district to give our high school students who have failed a class the opportunity to redo coursework or retake a course through alternate means, and thereby avoid failure and earn academic credit. The students I facilitate are here because they desire to graduate. They have not obtained their credits for a number of reasons, but we are excited that they are now making an effort.
My students take their credit-recovery course during normal school hours, after school, on vacation breaks, or over the summer.
Some are in my class for 8 hours a day, working diligently to graduate during the December graduation session.
This art project will allow the students to decorate a graduation cap as they complete their course(s). The caps will be displayed in our center as they reach their goals!
