Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are super active, love music and dancing. They love to manipulate objects and explore books, maps, etc. They love videos and funny characters. Our population is very diverse, many different ethnicity and backgrounds. I teach Kindergarten through 5th grade in Middletown, Connecticut, so there is a wide range of ages and interests.
During my Spanish lessons, they will learn lots of vocabulary, grammar, culture facts, geography, and much more!
They will learn about Latin America and Spain, and the beauty of their cultures!
My Project
My students will learn emergent Spanish reading, it is very important for them to develop all four areas of language: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
For this to happen they will need Spanish emergent reader books, bins to keep them organized and engaging games such as the "Match it" games.
Games like these give them independence when learning a second language and encourage to practice their vocabulary.
Most of the materials will be utilized by all grades since all my students will be starting to learn Spanish from scratch this upcoming school year. Such an exciting time!
