My class is an amazing bunch of students!!! Our school is a Title I school that serves students who come from a diverse set of backgrounds, experiences, and a low-income school district. My students are faced with several daily challenges, in and out of the classroom. The students in my classroom are full of energy and are very enthusiastic about learning. Pre-K is such an exciting group of mixed interests, abilities, and goals. This will be such an amazing learning experience for the students.
Many of our students often don't go on educational trips such as museums, science centers, historical buildings, or art centers. Their families can't afford these trips. Add that to living in an area where there are limited educational resources like museums and aquariums and it is near impossible for families to take advantage of them.
Our Pre-K team wants to make learning come alive for our students by taking a trip to the Georgia Aquarium.
Children need to see and experience first hand how plants and animals live. What better way to do that than a visit to an aquarium. Hands-on learning can be the best learning. Getting up close and being able to touch real aquatic animals can have a lasting impact on student learning.
It is challenging when such resources are not near you. That's why this all-day field trip is so necessary. It will encompass academic areas of geography (observing the land as we travel), transportation (describe the difference of traveling by coach bus), social skills (talking with other children and the aquarium workers about what they see, hear, and feel), and science (how the experience compares to what we learned in class). Children LOVE animals and hands-on learning, and when you put the two together you have the right recipe for academic success. Please help us give this opportunity to our children. Their future will be better for it and it will be because of your investment in the greatest resource in the world...children.
