Help me give my students a differentiated, visual, social studies curriculum that includes STEM activities, word wall vocabulary with pictures, and differentiated activities to meet the diverse needs of my classroom.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are Deaf/ Hard of Hearing students with diverse learning needs. My students need a language rich environment that is supported with visual representation of everything and kinesthetic learning opportunities. Our Deaf/ Hard of Hearing students are diverse learners who use English and American Sign Language to communicate with others. They are motivated learners who love discussing historical topics and learning about how history affects our world today. The resources I am interested in have visual word walls, STEM activities, reading passages, and activities that can be printed or assigned to Google Classroom if they are learning remotely. It also includes interactive PowerPoints and engaging bell ringer tasks to capture student attention and excite them about the topics we will learn.
These materials include differentiated passages for the diverse reading potential of the students in the class, come with visuals and pictures which is necessary for making connections with their language needs, and include various hands-on STEM activities that provide opportunities for each student to be active participants in these Social Studies' topics.
Currently, we are learning about the Ancient Civilizations and the contributions of those civilizations to our society such as laws, organization, government, economics, and social standards. They will create archaeologists' tools, early man fires, ancient Egyptian technologies, or even some Greek inventions. How exciting would it be to dive into history and be able to retell history based on what they've learned in class!
