"It's a great day to be a LION!" With a lion as our mascot, you can often hear students and staff sharing this phrase every day. Our students are proud to be a part of our learning community and staff is proud to play a role in creating diverse, energetic learners. There are approximately 700 students, grades k-5, in our school and 45% of them are low income students. I have the honor of getting to know all of them as they visit the library since I'm the librarian.
The students celebrate learning every day and are always proud to say, "It's a great day to be a LION!"
My Project
These books and their authors represent the diversity that is found in the students at our elementary school. It is important for readers to see themselves in the characters and as authors. By adding these books to our school's library collection, students will have opportunities to read great books about characters with similar backgrounds, struggles and successes!
Diversity in our library collection is important to our diverse student population.
By adding titles such as Dreamers and Little Leaders, our school library will be more diverse and more students will have opportunities to read about characters similar to themselves.
Please help us grow our diverse collection of books!
