My Students

My second grade students need a variety of diverse books for us to read aloud during our class meetings.

I have a class of 21 virtual students who have stayed home since March.

There are many days they only talk to the classmates online. I feel a need to include diverse books for them to hear so they can continue to learn about different cultures during this time of them being quarantined.

My Project

This project is to help my class read more diverse books during our read aloud time. I am starting my second year of teaching. I am trying to build a diverse classroom library.

I have several ethnicity groups represented in my class, but as a new teacher, I have few diverse books for them the read.

As a Leader in Me school, we continue to build a culture of understanding. These books would help me have a selection of books that are different than the typical read a loud books.
