My Project
My students come from diverse backgrounds. I want to celebrate their diversity with classroom displays and posters in our room and outside in the hallway so they see themselves reflected in the students in the posters. The posters I am requesting range from diversity in our school to growth mindset, which my students need to see as well. They all may not be where they need to be, but they are all trying their best and need that growth mindset displayed as a reminder that they will get where they want to be.
Visually being able to look around the room and be reminded that who they are matters and that they are seen in our school community is what I want for my students.
They love it when they see something in a picture book that they can relate to with their lived experiences. It opens them up to discuss their lives and backgrounds and make connections to what we are learning with our curriculum. Overall I am hoping to make all of my students feel included, happy to be at school, and have a sense of hope for their futures each day with these beautiful displays!
