Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I need help so I can provide my students the opportunity to see themselves reflected in multicultural books within our classroom! We need multicultural books (fiction and nonfiction), multicultural crayons, makers, and arts and crafts so kids can express their individual creativity.
My Project
I believe students need materials that reflect who they are. Materials such as family posters, multicultural books, multicultural crayons, multicultural papers, and others supplies will motivate the students to draw and write about themselves with more confidence.
These books will make a difference in my students' learning because they will be able to make connections to the characters.
Many of my students are multicultural or are from diverse backgrounds and aren't able to identify with the characters that are currently in the books in my classroom library.
These books will give them that opportunity to see themselves and their families reflected as the characters in the stories. These books will also give my students the learning opportunities to see and learn about people of other cultures.
