My Students

My students attend a K-6 public school, in a low income area.

As a Title 1 school, all children receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite the lack of resources and challenges my students face on a daily basis, they are an energetic and enthusiastic group of Kindergarteners. They come to school each day, eager to learn new things and to apply the skills I have taught them.

My Project

In today's society, teaching diversity and tolerance to children at an early age is essential in order to lay the groundwork for acceptance and tolerance of others. Children must learn that there are many different cultures, with unique customs, beliefs, and traditions. By utilizing the traditional costumes, skin toned paint, and skin toned craft paper requested, students will not only be able to represent and explore their own culture, but the cultures and traditions of others.

This project will promote allow students to be provided with a realistic glimpse into the lives of diverse groups of people.

As our society becomes more diverse, it is essential that children learn to be tolerant of other cultures. With the materials requested, my students will be able to celebrate the wonderful cultures that are in our world and embrace their differences.
