My Students

I am a first-year classroom teacher with the pleasure of teaching 24 beautiful kindergarteners. Half of my class are English Language Learners. This is my ideal job, as my school celebrates diversity and inclusion and I'm able to use my experiences living abroad to take my students to different places every day. My job includes differentiation for almost everyone. I have students who are at a second grade reading level and some who do not know letters yet.

What makes it great is that every day is something new and watching their light bulbs come on after I've been teaching a topic is so gratifying!

My Project

Three-quarters of my classroom come from low-income households, half are English Language Learners, and many do not have access to a computer at home. Having a Chromebook in the classroom will help to individualize instruction for all students so that each student is engaged at their own instructional level with programs like Lexia and Starfall.

Having hands-on manipulatives with the magnet tiles will be great for students to be able to learn how to read and write simple words.

Flexible seating in kindergarten makes the class more fun, as students can wiggle in their seat and still stay on task!
