Diversity in the Classroom: Books to Reinforce Inclusivity & Acceptance

Help me give my students books for the classroom that will help them reinforce diversity, everything from ethnicity to learning differences - we are all important and valuable!

My Project

I teach in the CTE: Education & Training Pathway, and I teach Principles of Education, Instructional Practices, and practicum courses at a high school in East Texas. My future teachers in my classes already utilize the books in my classroom library to do read aloud activities in their observations, and I’m wanting to expand my library selection to allow them to have more books to choose from that will highlight diversity and inclusion amongst everyone. This will make a huge impact on the students at each campus that listen to these stories!

These books emphasize acceptance, kindness, selfless love, and inclusion for all people - from various learning differences and neurodiversity to cultural differences.

While these books will impact the younger students listening to the read aloud activities, it will also impact my future teachers who will grow to understand the importance of teaching these life skills to their future students.
