Diversity in Text!

Help me give my students a variety of diverse texts that represent the cultures seen in our school. These books will expose students to texts from different cultures as we explore folktales and fairy tales through shared reading.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hard-working, perseverant, generous and caring. They come from different backgrounds, cultures, and circumstances and use their differences to support and learn about and from one another. They are passionate and truly care about their community, school, and education.

I teach two dual language classes at a Title One school.

The dual language program is often overlooked and underfunded in our city. My team and I are working tirelessly to create a meaningful and fulfilling bi-literacy program for our students who are mostly ELL's.

They work hard and persevere everyday despite their circumstances. They are learning in two languages and are proud of the fact that they speak both English and Español! I want to do everything in my power to ensure that they are receiving all of the materials and tools necessary to excel.

My Project

These shared reading book sets will expose students to folktales from different cultures. We will be able to explore different cultures and tales and compare and contrast them to others. We have a very diverse population and these books will help represent the children we see everyday.

We want to supply our students with authentic and engaging texts that they can make connections to.

These resources will help us do that! It is so important for students to be able to hold a copy of the text and follow along as it is read aloud and not just to listen as it is read to them.
