Help me give my students pretend play multi-ethnic dolls, diverse ability dolls, and career figure dolls that will reflect the diversity of my students.
My first graders are an amazing group of students. They are hard-working and always come to school with a sense of wonder. They put forth their best efforts to succeed, no matter their ability level or background. I am always proud of my students.
My classroom is not only economically diverse, it is also heterogeneous in culture, ethnicity, and ability.
My goal is to provide a warm and safe school environment for them to learn and grow. I also foster character development in my students. I incorporate the character strengths of grit, zest, social intelligence, gratitude, self-control, curiosity, and optimism into my classroom. I feel so fortunate to have such amazing students to teach. They inspire me every day with their unending kindness, generosity, honesty, humanity, and fairness.
My Project
I am very excited about this project! The resources that I am asking for are to be used on a daily basis to make my students' play time meaningful.
Children often use pretend play dolls to express themselves, so it is very important to me that the dolls in my classroom reflect my students no matter their background, looks, or ability.
The Pretend Play Multi-Ethnic Doll set as well as the Pretend Play Diverse Abilities Doll set will make a huge impact on my students. By using these dolls, my students will be able to see themselves in these pretend play toys. I believe that this will foster self-confidence in my students as well as a culture of empathy and an appreciation for all of our differences. It is my hope that the Pretend Play Career Figure set will inspire my students to strive to be anything they want to be regardless of their ethnicity or gender identity. With these dolls, my students will be able to role play with different types of people with a variety of occupations.
