My Project
My students come from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds and it is important in our classroom that instruction is culturally responsive. The curriculum and resources we are provided requires a good deal of supplementing in order to do this. Each year I speak to my students families as well as to my students to learn a bit more about what is important to them and what they would like to learn. I believe the resources selected in this project will be a great starting point for our culturally responsive social studies work this year.
Providing students with a variety of materials and learning prompts that promote diversity and inclusion will surely go a long way to build a sense of community and belonging in my classroom!
