Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first grade students are enthusiastic and eager to learn. They spend their day engaged in hands-on learning experiences. My students are given opportunities to develop their social skills as well as their academic skills.

As a classroom, they work together to learn and work; however, this year it will be different.

This year, they will need all the resources from the classroom at home in order to learn. My students are a diverse group of learners who work hard, help one another, make mistakes, and encourage everyone to try their best. Now more than ever it is important to stay active, create, and play.

At school we learn through play, music, partnerships, groups, literature, dance, and hands-on experiences. We have fun while learning!

My Project

My students are learning a different way this year. We are all attending school online. Even though we are in distance learning, students must learn about different cultures. We have been funded and received multicultural books that students have been discussing to find similarities and differences.

Learning about diversity using illustrations found in books develops their conceptual knowledge of multiculturalism.

It is important for them to create artwork that reflects who they are and noticing that there are others just like them. Having them to use the people color crayons will allow them to create artwork that looks like them.
