Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We have been working to balance the books in our library. About 60 percent of of students are Hispanic, and only a very small percentage of our books are in Spanish or about Hispanic topics. The goal of this project is to add additional titles that support the Hispanic experience or are written in Spanish so that multilingual students can practice reading in both Spanish and English.
Our goal is to create and inclusive atmosphere in our school that recognizes and celebrates the many cultures in our school community.
Adding these titles to our collect will allow more choice for students with limited English or that want to read stories that relate to their Hispanic culture.
