Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The book selections my class will receive with the funding of this project will help diversify our classroom library. It has been several years since the classroom library has been updated. The materials that I selected include high interest books centered around characters that are similar to the students in my class and the plots are about topics students identify with. These materials will pique my students' interest in engaging in independent reading.

We all need mirrors and windows in the books that we read.

With the fulfillment of this project students will have a diverse collection of titles that they can read and connect with on some level while affirming their own cultural identities and hopefully developing important positive insights about others.
