My students are stuck at home like everyone else in our state, and voraciously reading everything they can get their hands on!
Although I've been dropping off as many books as I can get my hands on through the school, I hope to be able to drop off the high-engagement graphic novels and chapter books that will keep them reading at home the rest of the year!
I also hope to prevent the 'summer slide' that unfortunately may be starting early this year for many students.
My Project
As students are settling into distance learning, they are exhausting their limited at-home libraries and finding less motivation to continue the voracious reading we have been practicing since September.
By supplying my students with high-engagement, diverse, stories to read at home, we are making it possible that they continue to grow their reading skills and open the door for powerful dialogue not only with classmates, but with their families!
With this project I will be able to supply each student with multiple diverse stories, at their reading level, in brand new books--that they will feel so special to receive!
