Help me give my students diverse books to help them see themselves and others in the texts they read. This helps us learn more about ourselves and others.
I teach in central Illinois and my students are all ages from K-5. They visit the library weekly. This is my fourth year as the school teacher-librarian and technology coach for our building.
In our library, we are determined to be better with reading, technology, and working together to learn more about the world and others in it.
Our students are a very diverse group from many backgrounds and come to school with a lot of energy and a desire to learn. We all love to read, get on technology, and learn from each other.
My Project
My students have many diverse backgrounds and we are very lucky to have the opportunity to have many new diverse texts being published recently. I want to give my students the chance to learn from these new diverse books.
Every student deserves to see themselves in the books they are reading and learn about others different from themselves.
These books will allow students to see themselves and others differently from themselves in the books they are reading. Our current collection is limited. We need to beef up the variety of characters and topics.
Let's learn more about others different from ourselves. Let's learn about holidays, traditions, and experiences from all people.
