Diverse Stories, Bright Futures: A Cozy Library for 3rd Graders

Help me give my students a cozy, culturally diverse library with nonfiction books, lap desks, and lights to inspire global readers!

My Project

As I begin the school year in a new Chicago Public School, I am eager to immerse my 3rd grade students in a warm, culturally diverse library. I have carefully selected true stories that amplify and uplift women and people of color, allowing students to explore "hidden figures" and envision a broad potential for their futures.

Through these books, my goal is to empower students with the knowledge that STEM is for EVERYONE, particularly through stories of historically underrepresented people.

To create a cozy and inviting atmosphere, I am requesting resources that will make our reading space engaging and comfortable. The lanterns will create soft lighting, encouraging focused reading. The mini flashlights will be used during "Flashlight Friday" reading sessions. Additionally, the requested book holders will keep our growing collection organized and accessible.
