My Students

I have the privilege of teaching a group of creative, innovative, and inspiring second-grade learners! The impact of the current situation has made it difficult to engage students in diverse learning opportunities as we all navigate this new world of distance learning.

It is hard to imagine what the new school year will look like students, however, what I do know is that now more than ever it will be important to provide creative, hands-on lessons that provide exploration and student-driven learning.

Stem, project-based learning, and inquiry learning will provide deep, meaningful and opportunities for my students to learn throughout the year.

My Project

The books in this project were selected because they inspire diversity, equity, creativity, and exploration. These titles that will expose the students in my room to different cultures or allow them to see their own culture in the pages they are reading.

Multicultural literacy is an important part of any literacy program.

It cultivates empathy in relating to different cultures and provides a different lens through which to see the world. It also allows students the opportunity to better understand their own culture. Literacy bridges gaps facilitate conversations and inspire projects where students grow far beyond academic standards.
