My Students

I teach the most loving, kind-hearted, and inspiring students in the world. They make me a better person just by knowing them. Every student has capabilities and talents that I help foster and bring out in them. Many students who attend our school are from low-income housing and have their own personal struggles and obstacles. I want school to be a place where they do not have to worry and can get access to anything and everything they need to be successful. Our students are extremely inclusive, as we pride ourselves on being a big family. Students are enthusiastic to learn about their classmates and are able to relate to their backgrounds and culture.

My class consists of 150 extraordinary students.

Of my 150 students, 60 have IEPs which include learning disabilities, Autism, emotional disorders, speech and language impairment, and physical disabilities. Many of my students love to create art, poetry, and enjoy writing narratives about their real or imaged experiences. It is essential that my students have the resources they need to be creative. Fostering a love of art in my classroom allows them to open up and express themselves in a different way.

My Project

My students have been reading for the first ten minutes of class. Students have handpicked their own books from our school library that they are interested in. Many students have voiced that they want more books about sports, manga, and mystery books. These books will ensure my students have choice and are able to select a book they asked for. All of the books on the list are books the students specifically asked for by name. This list is all theirs. I am hoping with your support, I can get these books funded before they are ready to start a new book. It is my hope that I can continue to stock my classroom library with books my students are interested in and are requesting by name.
