My Project
Through high-interest and diverse novels, our Library strives to cultivate a love of reading in our students. Adolescents need access to diverse literature to develop an appreciation for the various perspectives of our society.
At our school we believe one of the most valuable things a person can learn is empathy for others.
Reading from a BIPOC author allows students to either finally be seen in literature, or gives an opportunity for them to learn from marginalized populations. These populations struggle on our campus. By learning their perspectives, students can learn to stand up for them in an increasingly intolerable society. For a teenager, being an upstander means having the courage and empathy to speak out against bullying, discrimination, or any form of mistreatment, and to support those who may be vulnerable or marginalized.
The library hopes to acquire a diverse range of high-interest novels that celebrate various cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds. By doing so, we aim to provide students with access to literature that resonates with their identities and cultivates empathy and understanding for others. Thank you for considering to donate.
