Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year I will be teaching 3rd grade. I will be teaching a General education class of 25 students. Many of our students are from low-income households. The population of our school is predominantly Hispanic and black. Our school teaches Leader in Me to help all students become leaders. We strive to create well-rounded students. Our students also take wellness classes and participate in a variety of the arts.
My students are very hard-working and love reading!
My Project
As a teacher, one of my major goals is to help students love learning! Not only love reading, but also love math. Through this project, I will be adding a variety of different topics into my classroom library. These books relate to socio-emotional topics, math topics, engineering, STEAM and kindness. These books are also a variety of fiction and nonfiction.
These books will be used in a variety of lessons to help get students more engaged during non-literacy lessons, especially math. These texts will be used as read alouds to engage students whether we are learning from home or remotely.
Students need to see diverse texts within the classroom library and I want to add books that may inspire them! Inspire them to be a mathematician, an engineer, a great friend, a leader, an innovator.
