Help me give my students new books that reflect the diversity of the classroom, and get students excited about reading; this will provide access for students who can't check out books from the library.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from diverse backgrounds and have had a wide array of life experiences. In my English classes I have artists, athletes, dreamers, creators, engineers, mechanics, writers, builders, readers, volunteers, caretakers, leaders, musicians, debaters, givers, world changers, thespians, comedians, poets, storytellers, filmmakers, Youtube stars, and more. They have so many talents and experiences to bring to our class and share.
I enjoy getting to know each student and discover their passions and talents.
I am hoping to inspire them to tell their own stories and share them with the world.
My Project
Having new books that reflect the diversity of the classroom will help get students excited about reading and literature. This will provide access for students who can't check out books from the library or are afraid to because of the fines. Students will see themselves in these characters and will also learn from different perspectives. I need more books that appeal to boys. Many of the boys in my classes like action, mystery and sports books. I want to inspire students to love reading and see themselves as readers. Sometimes it only takes one book to ignite a passion for reading.
