Help me give my students access to a diverse classroom library. Adding these titles to our library would help ensure that all students feel seen in the books they are reading.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom in San Pedro, California is built of a very unique and diverse set of learners. In our first grade magnet classroom, my students come together to build a strong family. The connections we make last a life time.
My Project
Access to a diverse classroom library is important for each and every student. With this project, I am trying to ensure that my classroom environment provides just that.
Students need to see themselves in the books they read.
Every student is unique. They each have different cultures, languages, family structures, etc. All of these differences are what makes our classroom environment unique. Students having the ability to access to all types of literature ensure a love for reading, and a love for reading is the baseline for student reading success.
