My Project

Hi I'm Kelly and I am an elementary school Special Education teacher. I work with students from grades Kindergarten to 4th grade. I have a small group of students I see from specific classrooms and I work with them to build on the skills they have and work toward grade level expectations.

My students can be a bit fidgety at times.

My wobble stools help, but unfortunately I only have a few. My biggest group is 5 students, so getting just a couple more stools will allow everyone that wants to use one to have it.

My students hate my stool-it makes popping noises when I stand or sit and the top falls off. So, I am hoping to also get a smaller desk chair for my small group area. I will sit there most of the time, but students use it for rewards! It will also provide less distractions for them.

I am always looking for new ways to reach my learners that aren't making the progress we would hope for. While every student learns at their own pace, if something isn't working then a new strategy must be found. I have been taking a Science of Reading course, LETRs, to try to help these learners. Some of the materials I am requesting will be used for the lessons I am learning from this course. Other materials are just to make learning more hands-on. Finally, I am requesting a few new fidgets so students have something quiet to keep their hands busy in order to help their brains focus.
