Diverse Graphic Novels to Increase Excitement About Reading

Help me give my students engaging graphic novels for their classroom to increase their excitement about reading.

My Project

In our classroom students are struggling readers who come to reading groups to get support with reading. Reading is really challenging for them. Through their hard work and persistence, they have made a tremendous amount of growth this year but still have a way to go to be at grade level.

At the beginning of the year, many of my students told me, "Reading is too hard" and "I will never be able to read", but over the year, they have gained confidence and a love for reading and graphic novels have made a very impactful difference in their love for reading and this project will provide more graphic novels to this group of kids that will continue the momentum they have built.

This project will provide graphic novels for students to read in our classroom library. The graphic novels represent characters from diverse backgrounds that may be different or very similar to our class. Many of these graphic novels are books kids have been requesting to read, and it would be amazing to give them high interest books they have been wanting to read for a long time.
