This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach a vibrant group of fourth-grade students who come from a wide range of racial, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. Every day, I see how their unique experiences shape the way they see the world—and how important it is for them to see themselves reflected in the stories they read. Our current classroom library doesn’t reflect who they are—or who they dream to be. With your support, I hope to build a collection of inclusive, high-interest books where all 70 of my students can see themselves in the stories they read. Representation matters, and so does the joy of discovering a book you truly connect with. Help me inspire a lifelong love of reading through books that celebrate identity, diversity, and imagination.
