Help me give my students the gift of reading diverse texts. Students will find joy in reading when they get to choose the books they read. Please, help me build my middle school library by funding this project.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is an amazing school that serves pre K-8th grade students from diverse backgrounds. Over 90% of our students qualify for free lunches. The students in our school have felt the impact of COVID-19 on their learning. As the reading specialist at my school, I see firsthand how it has impacted their reading levels. We are working at my school to fill gaps in reading skills. My goal and hope is to motivate students to read more for enjoyment to practice their skills.
When students get to choose what they read, it is more enjoyable and builds motivation and stamina for reading.
I would like to build a diverse classroom library full of quality books for middle school students. I have already started this work and I would greatly appreciate your support and confidence.
