Diverse Children Reading Rug

My Project

Next year I will be teaching a 2nd and 3rd grade split classroom. I’m super excited to teach this fun age group! My students are eager to learn, caring, and creative.

This classroom rug perfectly fits our classroom library area and features diverse children from around the world!

It will give students a comfy spot to sit as they book shop, read, or take a “calm down break” when they are having a difficult time and need a private break space.

The children on the rug have many different skin colors and cultural backgrounds. This will be great for having conversations about similarities, differences, and how diversity makes our lives more interesting. Some of the children on the rug have clear disabilities or tools to help them access the world better. This will help students to see themselves and be more inclusive of others with disabilities or tools. The outside edge of the rug is filled with character traits I want all of my students to possess: responsible, caring, honesty, helpful, loving, courageous, kind, hard working, adventurous, generous, polite, etc.
