My students are special because they have a unique desire to want to learn. They face many challenges coming to school, but despite all the challenges, our students and our school succeed. Many of our students live in poverty and lack the many resources they need at home and at school to meet the needs of our changing society. We have students who attend our school who still don't have access to personal computers in their homes. Many students are able to use their parents' smartphones as a means to connect with technology, but it is not a substitute for having a personal computer to complete homework assignments and learn more about the world around them.
My students have a desire to want to know more about our world and how it works.
I'm empowered to help teach them all they need to know, to be able to interact in a society that focuses on math, technology, and science. When students have a desire to learn, it helps to motivate me to make sure they have the tools they need, so they will be able to make an impact on their future.
My Project
My students are curiosity readers and enjoy reading books on a daily basis that includes people who resemble them. They enjoy seeing themselves in the characters they read about. These diverse books will give my students more opportunities to read books that will help to broaden their understanding of the people around them.
Books encourage diversity for all.
When students are able to read and share stories about the people around them they learned to appreciate and respect everyone. I enjoy reading these stories to my students as well. The excitement I add to each story helps to bring the central messages to life.
