My students are special because they have a unique desire to want to learn. They face many challenges coming to school, but despite all the challenges, our students and our school succeed. Many of our students live in poverty and lack the many resources they need at home and at school to meet the needs of our changing society. We have students who attend our school who still don't have access to personal computers in their homes. Many students are able to use their parents' smartphones as a means to connect with technology, but it is not a substitute for having a personal computer to complete homework assignments and learn more about the world around them.
My students have a desire to want to know more about our world and how it works.
I'm empowered to help teach them all they need to know, to be able to interact in a society that focuses on math, technology, and science. When students have a desire to learn, it helps to motivate me to make sure they have the tools they need, so they will be able to make an impact on their future.
My Project
Having a diverse, print -rich classroom library is important to our daily lives. My students have a wide range of abilities and interests, and books provide a great filler for those who finish early. Books about specific topics are displayed in order to spark interest and discussions.
My classroom library collection is chosen with my students in mind, and they are thoroughly enjoying the books!
I like to make available authors and illustrators and topics they can related to. When children share books with their friends and discuss them on their own, then you know that you selected ones they like.
Adding these books that reinforce inclusion of all people ties into the motto of my classroom that everyone belongs.
