My students have a passion for growing friendships and learning all they can! We are a Title I school where the majority of our students participate in free or reduced-rate lunch. We love learning alongside one another!
The students who enter my classroom are already behind their more affluent peers in reading.
We are committed to growing our brains! My kids love exploring and stretching their schema to learn more about the world around them. The students and parents are enthusiastic about learning but do not have the tools (books, writing utensils, etc.) to work on reading and writing outside of school. With a longer school day, longer school year, and strategic planning, my students will make significant gains to leave first grade reading on grade level. I can't wait to see what they will do as they move along their educational journeys!
My Project
My classroom is full of diverse learners! I want the books we read to reflect the diversity in our classroom. Seeing yourself in texts is one way to build a love of reading!
The books in this project are a wide variety of texts that will help my students see themselves in texts and hopefully build that love of reading!
We will use them daily to either take home and read or read during our library time in the classroom. Your support would help us explore the world of books and hopefully find a love of reading during this school year!
