Help me give my students diverse books that they can relate to and learn from.

My Students
My amazing first graders have an incredible curiosity and passion for reading and learning. I'd love to support their love of literature with diverse books that reflect all of their backgrounds. I want my students to feel empowered by diverse characters in high-quality children's books, relating and learning through little boys and girls who may look like they do.
My Project
My students love to listen to and read stories. They also love to turn and talk to one another about the characters and big ideas in high quality texts. I want to bring books to my students that provide lots of opportunities for them to learn about diversity and inclusion. I need to expand my collection of read aloud books and series books to incorporate more diverse authors, characters, and ideas. Students need books to be "windows and mirrors." They need to see characters who look like them, and they need to learn about characters who look and live differently, as well.
