This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work with students that come from different countries from Central and South America. I am working on making sure that my classroom is a welcoming place and that it reflects my students and their experiences. My classroom library can really benefit from diverse books like Bowwow Powwow, Eyes That Kiss In The Corners, and Eyes That Speak To The Stars. Having a stoage cabinet in which to put these new books, and make them accessible to all students, would make the library a more welcoming place.
A book can help a student feel welcomed and understood, when the book reflects them and their experiences.
A classroom library needs to have books that are engaging and needs to create a warm safe place for students.
