Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 4th and 5th grade students are a diverse and integrated group of learners. In our Spanish Dual Language class, some students come from Spanish speaking families, but many students do not. Some students receive special education services, while others do not. Students' families come from all over the world and speak many different languages.
My students love to work together on creative projects, although this year our creative learning will look very different than it has in the past.
My Project
This year our class will be using a hybrid learning model. This means that half of the class will be in the school part time and the other half of the class will be completely remote. It's a complicated jigsaw puzzle of a schedule and we are looking for ways to build community and have a sense of calm in our day.
There are so many new, beautiful picture books on diverse topics.
We will end every day with a read aloud during our goodbye meeting. Each day we will read and discuss a different one of these picture books.
